Calling the Shots: Keeping an Eye Calling the Shots: Keeping an Eye on Ohio State’s Offensive Play-Callingon Ohio State’s Offensive Play-Calling

Three days before the spring game began, Ohio State had already sold over 50,000 tickets by the middle of this week. With beautiful skies and temperatures in the mid-60s predicted for Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio, head coach Ryan Day and his staff should expect a huge turnout.

After an offseason that saw the Buckeyes retain a number of important defensive players, hire Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator from UCLA, and sign commitments from some of the best players in the transfer portal, excitement is building around the team. On Saturday, however, a national televised audience will witness a spring football game for the first time, irrespective of the institution.

“I think it’s a great, great day planned,” Day said at a news conference earlier this week. “An opportunity to be the first-ever spring game that’s gonna be televised nationally on FOX is just so exciting for our guys and for Buckeye nation and for the program. Really cool, really great opportunity. So our guys want to put on a show, you know, and have some fun with it.”
