Baylor’s Secret Weapon: Scott Drew’s Commitment Keeps Bears Poised for Continued Success
Scott While Drew remains at Baylor, the quest continues in Kentucky. The 53-year-old Drew has chosen to go back to Visit the Chrome Web Store to find additional themes and extensions.Waco will remain at Baylor for a 22nd season, according to sources who spoke with FOX Sports on Thursday morning. Drew, along with his family, decided to stick with the Bears despite Lexington and a blue-blood program for their three high school and college-aged children.
And so Kentucky’s search goes on. Who might come next? Although there is no indication that either of those coaches will end up at Kentucky, the program will undoubtedly keep trying to pitch Dan Hurley of UConn and Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls for the open position. It would not surprise me if Kentucky looked at Sean Miller, the head coach at Xavier.
Drew is the Bears’ all-time winningest coach with 446 victories and 12 NCAA Tournament trips in his last 17 seasons, including five Sweet 16 trips and three Elite Eight appearances. Drew guided Baylor to its first national championship in 2021.
According to reports, Drew decided to stay at Baylor barely three weeks after he eliminated himself from consideration for the Louisville position despite the Cardinals’ generous offer of more than $8 million annually.
“I am locked in on Baylor University,” Drew said at the time in an interview with Baylor flagship radio station 1660. “Baylor is my home and my family’s home.”
After assuming leadership of the Baylor program, which was reeling from a major NCAA controversy involving a player’s murder in 2003, Drew brought the team out of a turbulent phase and elevated the Bears to the top of the country.
Drew has a 446-244 record in 21 seasons in Waco. He is the brother of Grand Canyon head coach Bryce Drew and the son of College Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Homer Drew.
