Blue Bloods Battle for Supremacy: Duke and North Carolina Lead Early Odds for 2025 March Madness

Congratulations to the UConn Huskies for their victory over the Purdue Boilermakers 75-60 in the 2024 NCAA men’s March Madness tournament.

With their victory on Monday night, UConn became the final team standing for the second straight year.

However, as any bookmaker is aware, examining the odds for the upcoming season is a constant.

Following the UConn-Purdue game, the favorites to win it all the next year were Duke and North Carolina when the betting market began.

Duke is ranked first on the oddsboard at +1000. After losing to NC State 76-64 in the Elite Eight, the Blue Devils concluded the season with a 27-9 record and were eliminated from the postseason.

John Fanta, a college basketball reporter and commentator for FOX Sports, named Duke No. 2 in his much-too-early top 25 rankings for the upcoming year. Furthermore, he asserts that Duke commit Cooper Flagg should be on the minds and radars of supporters and wagerers.

Fanta has the Heels ranked 11th in his way-too-early rankings when it comes to the team that is second on the betting board.

When Powder Blue took on the Crimson Tide in the Sweet 16, North Carolina’s season came to an end. UNC lost that game to Alabama 89-87.

The back-to-back champs, however, Fanta ranks at No. 1 on this list.
